Why you should consider laser therapy to get rid of your spider veins

If you deal with pesky spider veins on your face or legs, then you may be wondering what your treatment options are. Cutaneous Laser Therapy is one of the most effective go-to treatments for superficial spider veins, and typically used on the face. Read on to learn more about this treatment and why it may be best for your concerns.

  • Spider veins appear due to a number of reasons, including pregnancy, weight fluctuations, hormonal changes and activities or jobs that require long periods of standing or sitting.
  • Cutaneous Laser Therapy can be used on the face or legs to treat spider veins. Laser therapy uses a beam of light to heat up the small veins and destroy them. The great thing about this treatment is that it doesn’t damage the surrounding skin and requires little or no downtime.
  • Ideal candidates are patients who have superficial spider veins and tiny varicose veins just under the skin’s surface. Laser therapy is the best solution for treating the small dilated blood vessels on the face and for treating webs of small veins.
  • Cutaneous Laser Therapy can effectively treat superficial spider veins that you can see on the surface of the skin. This treatment is not effective on larger or deeper veins or more severe vein conditions, so your doctor can tell you other treatment options available for those. Often, endovenous laser treatments are the treatment of choice for those conditions.
  • Cutaneous Laser Therapy has many benefits when it comes to treating superficial spider veins, including fast recovery, the fact that it’s a non-surgical treatment, it’s quick and effective and usually painless. Results are immediate, and will continue to improve with time.
  • Treatment begins will applying a numbing agent to the skin above the veins that will be treated with the laser therapy. The laser wavelength is then set to match the color of the targeted vein. The laser light pulse penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the blood in the spider vein. The light is converted to heat, which coagulates the blood inside the vein, causing the vein walls to collapse and seal off the vein. Over the next two weeks, the body will absorb the vein and you will see full results.
