Need a Hand With The Veins On Your Hands? We Can Help
- Posted on: Jul 15 2020
We typically think of vein issues being tied to your legs but of course, they can pop up anywhere. In particular, as you get older, the veins in your hand can become more pronounced which can make you feel self-conscious. During the aging process, the skin on your hands becomes thinner, which can make it look like you have more veins than you used to. While that isn’t the case, there are some things we can do to get rid of those veins. Let’s take a look at how.
Sclerotherapy is a popular treatment for most types of veins, even veins in your hands. How the process works is easy. Your doctor will start by injecting a sclerosing foam medication into the veins in your hands. The veins where the medication is injected will then be irritated and scar causing them to close down. After the veins close down, your body begins the process to naturally absorb them and redirect your blood flow to healthy veins. Sclerotherapy is especially nice as a treatment option because there is no downtime or recovery required. The only aftercare would be wearing a compression wrap on your hand for a few days afterward.
Microphlebectomy is another treatment option that works great for veins in your hands. This treatment involves removing veins section by section by creating a series of tiny holes. Your doctor will do this by numbing the veins and surrounding tissues then making tiny punctures in a line down the vein. After that, your doctor will then go back in with a hook-like tool through the tiny hotels to pull out the veins. They’ll repeat this until every part of the veins is removed. Similar to sclerotherapy, you don’t need any stitches or downtime.
