How to get rid of spider and varicose veins quickly

Spider and varicose veins are very common as we age, usually appearing on the thighs, calves and ankle areas. While spider veins usually aren’t painful, varicose veins can be. Whatever your reason for wanting to get rid of them, sclerotherapy is a quick, relatively painless and effective way to erase these veins from your legs.

What are spider veins?

Spider veins are small clusters of superficial veins close to the skin’s surface. They carry dark, de-oxygenated blood, which is why they look like purple, blue, red squiggly lines. While they usually aren’t painful, they can be unsightly for many women who get them.

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins affect both men and women. They are enlarged veins near the surface of the skin, most frequently on the legs, causing cosmetic and cosmetic concern. Varicose veins are caused by a backflow of blood in the veins from venous insufficiency.

What is sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is an in-office medical procedure that takes about 30 minutes. Treatment consists of injecting a sclerosant solution into the affected veins through a fine needle. The solution then irritates the vein wall, causing it to collapse and eventually absorb into the body. Blood is redirected naturally through healthy veins nearby. The appearance of the vein fades, while any remaining visible vein will fade over the next 3-6 weeks.

Is it painful?

Most patients say it feels like a pinprick, and the burning sensation and cramping goes away quickly. Some patients will only need one session, while other patients may require multiple sessions over time to completely resolve the problem.

How long is recovery?

Most patients are able to return to work and regular activities once treatment is over. You’ll wear compression bandages for several days or a few weeks after surgery to help your body heal and absorb the closed-off veins. Any mild bruising and swelling should subside within a few days.
